You should be using the 6.5.54.0 version only.

I don't see 6.5.54.0 version from PICO web site. Only version's I see for the 4423 automotive is the newest R6.5.74 which I'm having this problem with. Or the old version R6.4.95 which works fine. :-/

Then you should go back to the older version that works for you. I don't know if the 6.5.54.0 is available to Non Autonerdz, Pico Group members ? I bought my Scope from Autonerdz and have access to everything :D Thanks, Tom. The Pico Kool-Aid is great [smiley=evilgrin.gif] |

Use ver 6.4.95.0. It's the most stable at present.
6.5.74.42 is unstable, crash problems and won't display things such as KV spikes. Andy. |

Ok, I see where this is going. You know this isn't so . This a softwar update from PICO, not Autonerdz. I would like to be a nerdz full member but I quess thats to late. I'm in the position of buying add on's for my pico that would add up to purchase or more of the autonerdze 4423 package. If they would make me a full member I would buy everything else that I need and want threw the nerdze. I've been wanting to ask about this for awhile. Thanks. Mark. P.S I made a mistake, please don't let me suffer for it.

Mark -
If you want version 6.5.54.0 just look down a few threads in this forum for the thread entitled "PicoScope Software Advisory" http://www.autonerdz.com/cgi/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1304027610 Tom posted both a warning about not using 6.5.74.42 and links to both 6.5.54.0 and 6.4.95.0 that is accesible to both picogroup members and nonmembers. Though I would suggest sticking with 6.4.95.0 for now since it seems to be a very good stable version. Loren |

Mark,
I trust you now found the functional PicoScope downloads. We have never posted a PicoScope software advisory in the public boards before but the 6.5.74 is so bad that we kinda had to try to do some damage control. The longer it is out there the more problems we have to deal with. You found one of the major isssues with it...there are plenty more. We do not consider it at all functional. Be sure to completely uninstall the 6.5.74 before you choose one of the previous builds to install. If you need any help, let me know. Quote:

Hi,
I had installed the 6.5.74 und taken some Waves. When i now uninstall that version and install the 6.5.54 or the 6.4.95 and open a file with the Demo-Device selected, Pico crashes. Thought it could be my Laptop, but problem shows up on 3 fully different Computers/Laptops. When i reinstall the 6.5.74 i can look at the waves on all 3 Computer without that anything happens. Chris,
You will not be able to open any files that you saved using 6.5.74 with an earlier version of PicoScope. I am not sure if you will be able to open them with a future release. It's not unusual that a future build file would not be able to be opened with older software if significant changes were made. But future builds should always open past build files. It should not crash though. It should just come up with a message telling you that the file is not compatable with your current version and suggest an update. Put up one of your files here and I will see if I can open it with a pre release version I have been testing that will eventually evolve into the next build. I didn't save anything from the 6.5.74 build. |

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the hint.I juste tryed older Waves, and they opened up.But i donīt know with what Version i took them. So it seems just to be this newer Waves with older Version-Thing. Thats firstly good to know ;) Here is one File with the .74 what always crashes. Its nothing really intresseting but, its the smallest i could find. Chris P.S - Sorry if my English isnīt so good - iīm from Germany https://www.autonerdz.com/cgi/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=downloadfile;file=motorstart-zoom2-2.psdata (1055 KB | )

Title: Re: 64.95.0 Post by Tom Roberts on May 13th, 2011 at 9:32am Chris, I was able to open your file two different ways with this alpha software. The first image is with preferences set to English and the second one set to metric. Not sure what it was supposed to look like but this difference is caused by the fact that you used the built in WPS probes not the software version differences. The built in WPS probes are problematic and we don't use them for this reason. Anyway, this appeas to be good news for your 6.5.74 files that they will open with a future release and will not be lost. But this alpha is not ready for prime time yet. |
Title: Re: 64.95.0 Post by Christian on May 13th, 2011 at 9:50am
Hi,
O.k - i have the Language set to German and the Messurement set to "System default". I think the second Image was about what i got. I was pokeing around with the WPS connected to the Intake of a Audi FSI Engine and starting. But that thing with what probes, i got lost :o Good that the other Waves are not "lost" - so i will just be Patient and wait for the next Versions and use the .54 until that. Chris |
Title: Re: 64.95.0 Post by Tom Roberts on May 13th, 2011 at 10:10am Chris, You used the WPS500 Range 2 from the automotive menu. That is the problem. Since the file only opens correctly when metric preferences are selected I would think metric was selected when you made that. Check your email. ;) |

Hi,
There is a 6.5.77 online.... - Fixed drawing errors. - Fixed random crashes and lock-ups. - Various minor bugs fixed. Is this Version now o.k again ? *EDIT* No, it isnīt - just crashed 3 Times while viewing Waves from the 6.5.54. https://www.autonerdz.com/cgi/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=downloadfile;file=Report_2011_05_21.zip (7 KB | )

Title: Re: 64.95.0 Post by Tom Roberts on Jul 16th, 2011 at 9:31am Christian, We already have an hour long tutorial and considerable discussion on the 6.6.2.13 Beta in the Picogroup area. Bottom line...It's a good one. Quite possibly the best PicoScope 6 ever and we have seen them all. It will install alongside your present release build but not import any of your settings, probes, reference waves, etc. But these can easily be transferred from your backup files. |
Title: Re: 64.95.0 Post by Christian on Oct 14th, 2011 at 10:37am
There seems to be a bug in the 6.6.x Beta (.4 + .7)
It uses about 50-55% CPU , on every Computer i tested. Tested the 6.5.80 on the same ones, there i have a usage about 5-15%. Just running the Demo sample without anything connected. When i load a saved file the usage of the 6.6.7 goes under 5%. |
Title: Re: 64.95.0 Post by Randy H. on Oct 14th, 2011 at 12:31pm
No bug - it is designed that way. And its quite amazing they achieved that performance with less CPU usage.
