Hi Guys, about me,

I bought my scope off Tom 2 years ago.

At first I was overwhelmed to say the least, I realised how little I knew about cars.

Although I wanted to get involved in the forum and some of the discussions, I couldn,t because it was like I was trying to read a different language.

So, I set off on a mission to gain knowledge,
I have invested in training courses and have got loads of books and training aids.

I'll be honest it has been a real rough ride, it felt like the more I learn't the harder the job became   :D

Luckily, just recently I have had a few "EURIKA" moments and diagnostics has started to become enjoyable  :)

I am hoping you  guys may some how be able to help me progress to  Autonerdz level.

Are you not a working Automotive Tech.?  Not that it matters, this craft has and is changing DAILY, but some of the members are Motorcycle Techs. "Whats Your Line" (An Old Old TV Show). [smiley=chopper.gif]

What training did you procure that got your Scopeese language barrier diminished? :D

Its definitely overwhelming BUT I think you should just jump right in. That's the best way to learn. I don't think anyone could have been more green with scope than I when I started scoping. No one is a scope Jockey from the jump. Just about every car give or take that I had in my Bays in the last 3 months has a place in my files for something or other. Yeah i'm still green but not as bad. SO pick something, cam/crank-evap-fuel sytem-ignition(on known good cars)(not broken)start capturing and throw em up. who cares what they look like. I've been following the NERDZ since 97 and it hasn't been not even 2 months since I finally got my pico.
I know what you mean by overwhelmed
But believe me this is not just another forum for Technicians this one sits apart, like I said all these that I've been following them I have not seen anything but Professional Technicians that will treat you with respect and will share their knowledge.

I am an automotive tech, my problem was that I had absolutley no knowledge of vehicle electrics/ electronics and really was just fitted parts I was told to fit (words like duty cycle, pulsed width and frequency meant absolutley nothing to me)

Although I was overwhelmed, I devolped (some times frustrating) an incredible passion to understand how things work and how I could accuratley test them.

The training I have persued in the last 2 years on my quest has provided me with over 10 certificates from different subjects covering  basic electrics/electronics, diesel management, petrol management, oscilloscope diagnostics, vehicle networking, and various other subjects.

The training has been supplied by:-
James Dillon
Frank Massey
Bosch
Snap On and various others.

I am currently half way through a Bosch certified Diagnostic/ Master technician programme.

My knowledge quest has been sum what of a panic, very scatty and very dis-organized  :D
But, I feel just recently I may have scratched the surface.

My aim now is to become fluent in pico and creative labscope diagnostics.

Then....
I have bought a comprehensive electronics kit which allows you to design and build electronic circuits using resistors, transistors, capacitors and all sorts of weird and wonderful components.
Hopefully I will be able to take part in some of the 'brandonb' classes one day.

I understand "Rome wasn't built in a day" but, I may aswell aim high.

Ok, thats enough about me, Ive got loads of questions so I best get posting  :)
