Title: New member from New York
Post by James Diniro on Feb 24th, 2014 at 8:25am
Hi everyone.   My name is Brian.  I'm not a tech.. I work in technology consulting (networks/telecom/performance engineering) for my day job, but am really interested in auto repair and have been doing work on my own car (Audi b5 s4) for about 4 years now.

I've been lurking around the site for a few weeks now and am really intrigued by what you guys are doing here.  The types of questions and answers I see on most car forums have started becoming increasingly unsatisfying and lack the rigor in methodology that I've finally found here.

I'm interested in learning how to use a PicoScope and am looking to buy a 4 channel in the coming month.  My plan was also to get the USB training to get started.  Any other tips for getting started are greatly appreciated.

Anyway, glad to be a member!  :)

Welcome, Brian.  Your background is a good foundation discipline for this sort of thing.  We have a few rather advanced 'hobbyists' here and we look forward to your contributions.

Download the PicoScope software, if you have not already done that, so you can play along dissecting the files.   ;)

Buy a Pico kit from Tom and you will have access to the picogroup area as well.  If the things going on in the public forums have been getting your dander up, just wait til you see what goes on in the picogroup section.  Some really mind blowing stuff there...

Welcome aboard Brian.

Welcome Brian. I agree, once you get a scope kit you'll be in heaven!  What Tom said, download the software so you can play with it and check out the files that are being posted here.  It will help you get accustomed to all of the features in short order.
