To save on typing the whole story out again.  Have a quick read here:
http://www.autonerdz.com/cgi/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1335414994

Basically this is me.
30 y/o mechanic from smallish town that most of Australia doesn't know exists.
I pretty much woke up one day as the owner of workshop. The day before I foolishly thought that one I knew enough and two that buying this workshop was a good idea.
At times I truly believe I was wrong on both counts.  Other times I still think it was a good idea.

I pushed along for a while not knowing that I didn't know enough, slowly realizing that I didn't know enough.
I now know that you can never know enough.

Through many many hours of looking I stumbled across a few websites ended up leading me here.

In the short time I've been shown the way to other very useful information sources.  I've also come to realize that I knew more then I thought, I just needed a little push in the right direction.

Today, I diagnosed an ABS issue that I previously would not have taken on at all and It only took 2 hours including the 45mins or so I spent sourcing information on the system.
The problem was a no communication code and warning light where the code was actually listed as a traction control failure.
No comms with scan tool to the ABS but comms with all others.   Would be a long post to repeat the whole story here.

I used 3 channels on the scope for the first too, which actually proved the ECM was trying to communicate with the ABS, plain as day right there on the screen.

The ABS module should be on plane right now for a 1300km flight to the nearest place capable of testing it.

So I guess this is an introduction and a thank you.

At twice your age, "I have a long way to go and a short time to get there"  (Jerry Reed, Smokey and the Bandit).  You have demonstrated (TO ME) exceptional skill in the Craft and a capacity to learn, and I for one welcome your input, and value your Skill.

52 was the Magical year. MoM and DaD obviously got Frisky every January (Farming Back Then) because all three of us kids were born in September. 9th, 10, 18th.  Winters were rough on the Prarie I guess.

Funny thing happened yesterday.   My 'tradesman'  The mechanic I worked under when I was an apprentice, Turned up at the shop.

First words out of his mouth, 'how's it going fat basted'  (nothings changed), second thing he said.  I need help, I've got a 3.8 VX commodore that was stolen and now it won't start.  I've already put a new BEM and matching key in it.
